#SPILL! error introduce in Excel with Dynamic Arrays (Microsoft365 – mac/windows and Excel Online) with new calculation engine to handle the array functionality.
The new calculation engine shows the result in case of arrays into different cells.
Assuming that your formula is having array output and something might be obstructing to show the results that is the reason you are getting #SPILL! error.
The obstruction could your text value, space in the cell, merged cells, even when your results extend beyond the worksheet’s cells capacity and while using Excel Table.
Example:
We wish to return the range of from A1:A10 in cell range of D6:D15.
Unfortunately, I was having text “Blocking” which is obstructing the result to spill.
Even if you click the error exclamation icon that also says “Spill range isn’t blank”.
Once you remove the text “Blocking” your result will appear without any #SPILL! error.
In short #SPILL! error occurs when your formula returns multiple results in cells and any of the cells might have a value in it or your results extend beyond the worksheet’s cells spilling capacity.
