What is Steps Recorder?

Steps Recorder is sometimes referred to as Problem Steps Recorder or PSR. Steps Recorder is a FREE application available for all Windows users that allow to screen capture & annotate steps.

What is the use of Steps Recorder

It is a very helpful tool available in Windows OS. Example: We need to prepare the documentation “How to Create Purchase Order in SAP?” with every keyboard action and mouse click along with the screenshot of each steps. Activating the Step Recorder will allow us to capture the screen steps & annotate our process during the screen capture.

Version Compatibility

Step Recorder is only available for Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 user and above only.

How its works

The interface is very simple & easy to use. Steps Recorder needs to start & stop manually. It does not run automatically in the background and doesn’t collect or send information.

All windows users can find Steps Recorder under Start Menu > Windows Accessories > Step Recorder

Simply type Steps Recorder in the search bar of the start menu.

For Windows 7 Steps Recorder is unavailable as a shortcut in the Start Menu. It can be accessed by executing the command “psr” in Run command box from the Start Menu.

Once the recording is done all the steps are saved into MHTML format which is view via any web-browser or even in Word Document.
