How to Install Windows on a Mac with Apple M1 ARM chip

Apple’s NEW Silicon Chip M1/Pro/Max is designed on ARM architecture, we would need an ARM-based installation file for windows.

1. Install Virtual Machine on M1 Mac (VM)

There are many Virtual Machines available in the market, the one which I have been using for a long time is Parallels and it supports Apple’s New Silicon Chips. As honest feedback about Parallels is the most reliable and user-friendly VM.

2. Register for Windows Insider Program

In order to have Windows 11 running on your Apple M1 Chip, you need to register for Windows Insider Program. Without the registration, you will be unable to access the download windows setup file.

3. Download the Microsoft Windows setup file for M1 Mac

If you have installed your parallels you must get a screen setup for Windows 11 installation. You can select Windows and windows will start downloading. After the registration for the insider program click here to download the setup file which should be a VHDX image file.

4. Install Windows using parallels on M1 Mac

If you have installed the VM (Parallels) using you will get an option to download Windows 11, I would recommend you download from there rather than using the downloading link for Microsoft. The reason behind this is I found the downloaded copy of the windows from the Parallels don’t know me as an insider preview copy after the download.
