I’m excited to share this exciting feature which is one of my wish list feature, none other than “Power Query PDF Connector for Excel”. It is now available after getting an update on Microsoft365.
PDF connector was earlier available on PowerBI & now it is amazing to see the same power is boosted into Excel.
PDF connector allows us directly to connect our data into Excel, which can extract the data stored only in a table or text.
Note: It will be unable to read the information if stored as a image in PDF.
To access goto Ribbon Tab > Data > Get Data > From File > From PDF
Example File
Power Query Navigator will give us the option to select the following
- The table along with its page number (includes the information recognized only in the table)
- Page number (include all information table & text)
If our data is not in the table then select as page and locate the data which you wish to extract. However, in this example, we will select Page001 and clean up the data as per our needs.
Once the data is clean from the ribbon Home > Close & Load and the data will be in our spreadsheet
Currently, it is only available for Office Insiders Fast Channel. So we hope to see this PDF Connector soon on a regular channel.
